Some readers may remember one of the first mass-produced computers for the general public from the late ’70s and early-mid ’80s called the TRS-80. Sold by Radio Shack, the computer was far from powerful or easy to use by today’s standards, but it was so much for me to use as a teenager who was fascinated by programming. Unfortunately, the computer I used had two means of storage: 5 1/4″ floppy disks, and – yes, this is true – cassettes. There was no way my school was going to spring for the 5 MB (yes – not GB) hard drive that cost, at the time, $2495!
Times have certainly changed, and now many web pages are more than 5 MB in size. A 4 TB (terabyte) hard drive can fit in the palm of one’s hand and be purchased for $120. As the price of storage drops, church website companies should be increasing the amount of storage their clients receive. That’s why we’re changing what we offer.
An Aboundant Premium plan now comes with unlimited storage, not just 30 GB as it did just a few days ago. The only limitation is that this storage space is not intended for your church or personal file storage, such as backups of your entire giant photo or media drive. If you need that type of space, a backup solution is far more appropriate. And while you can certainly upload videos to Aboundant and embed them in your site, if you plan to do a lot of video streaming then you’d be better off using a third-party solution specifically created for that media.
Check around…you won’t find many website companies offering you unlimited storage space. It’s just part of our continuing commitment to offer our clients incredible value at an incredibly affordable price. With the money you save by using Aboundant as your church web host, you could buy a vintage TRS-80…or probably something much more useful to your ministry!
